Statewide Pilot: 2027–2028 School Year


Anticipated Program Start: Fall 2027


Authorized under Texas Education Code §21.4552, Teacher Literacy Achievement and Reading Intervention Academies, Texas Reading Academies will expand to serve educators in Grades 4–8.
 

The 2027–2028 school year will serve as the statewide pilot year for the Grades 4–8 program.

    • Grades 4–5: ELAR and Biliteracy Teachers
    • Grades 6–8: Reading Language Arts (RLA) and Biliteracy Teachers
    • Grades 6–8: Math, Science, and Social Studies Teachers

     

  • Region 6 Comprehensive Cohort

    Region 6 will offer a comprehensive, in-person cohort facilitated by trained Cohort Leaders. Region 6 will coordinate professional learning sessions, individualized coaching, participant support, and program monitoring. The program will consist of five modules totaling approximately 30 hours, designed to be completed within an 11-month period.

  • Participants will be expected to: 

    • Attend all five required in-person learning sessions in the prescribed sequence, totaling approximately 30 hours.
    • Participate in two individualized 30-minute virtual coaching sessions.

     

  • FREE TO ATTEND DURING THE 2027–2028 PILOT YEAR

    There will be no participant registration fee for the Grades 4–8 Reading Academies during the statewide pilot year.
