Districts in the Title I, Part C Migrant SSA have selected Region 6 ESC as the fiscal agent for this fund source in the ESSA Consolidated Application for Federal Funds. The migrant education program provides supplemental services to local education agencies to help ensure migrant children succeed in the regular school program, meet state content and performance standards and graduation requirements. Region 6 ESC provides leadership, professional development and technical assistance to participating districts that select Region 6 ESC as their fiscal agent.

ESC Region 6 receives some additional funding from the Texas Education Agency to provide technical assistance and training to districts in support of migrant program services. Some of these services include identification and recruitment of eligible migrant students and families including out of school youth, quality control of migrant related PEIMS data elements and corresponding New Generation System data, and validation of Certificates of Eligibility for migrant students and families.
These state services are provided at no cost to districts.

Goal of the MEP
The goal of the MEP is to assist all migrant students in meeting challenging academic standards and achieving graduation from high school (or a High School Equivalency program) with an education that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment.

The principal operational goal of the MEP is to ensure that all migratory students meet challenging academic standards so that they graduate with a high school diploma or received a High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment.
